4 Month Old Milestones and Development-
Moving and Rolling
2 To 6 Months- Learning to Move
Your baby is starting to develop more movement. Best tip I can give-
ENJOY IT! Once your baby starts to move there is no stopping her now.
Your baby is learning to wiggle, wobble, flex, reach and grab for things,
chew and suck, and toss around. It won't be long until she figures out how
to roll her whole body over for the first time, one of the many magic
milestones to come.
These couple of months are when deliberate action takes over. Your baby is
learning to control and direct his/ her movements and emotions. Rolling
over is the beginning of this period.
Looking beyond physical control, your baby is developing
"sensory integration"-he is putting all his senses together.
With all this ability to move, your baby is learning more about the space
he/she inhabits and learns to study new objects and toys. He is starting to
use his brain to determine things that are hot, soft, warm, or cold. He knows
now how to put a toy or his hands in his mouth, or how to shake his rattle.
Oh my, did I mention your baby is now learning cause and effect?
He is becoming more social because of these movements as well. Watch
when your baby sees you come in, does he wiggle and laugh with joy?
Another developmental milestone is reaching out. Your baby will be
learning to pass her toys from one hand to another. They begin to see where
objects are in space and figure out how to plan an action, such as grabbing a
pacifier and putting ti in their mouth. Your baby is boosting knowledge of
this big world.
