Baby Shower games are essential to planning a great baby shower. These games help keep the shower fun and interesting. It is also good for showers when not everyone knows each other. They are great ice breakers. Here are some interesting ideas for games that everyone will love!
Break the Water!: Go to a craft store and get itty-bitty plastic babies. Place them in an ice cube tray, fill with water and freeze. Put the ice cube babies in glasses for your guests. Whoever's water breaks first (their baby break free from the ice cube) wins the game! Diaper Pin Game: As each guest enters the room, hand them a couple of large diaper pins. The object of the game is to get as many diaper pins as possible. As guests exclaim a word of your choosing ( i.e. "cute"), they will have to give up one of the diaper pins to the person that catches them using the forbidden word. Whoever has the most diaper pins at the end of the game will win! Belly Races: Have guests place a blown-up balloon under their shirt, and race to paint their toenails. Whoever does it the fastest, without popping their balloon, wins the game! Give Baby the Pacifier!: Have guests place a blown-up balloon under their shirt, and blindfold two or three of them at the same time. Give each one a paper pacifier, and turn them around and around. The object of the game is to place the paper pacifier on a picture of a baby. It will be harder while a few of them are bumping stomachs together on their way to finding the picture. Dress The Baby!: Blindfold two guests at a time, and have them dress a baby doll. The first one to get the clothes on correctly wins the game! Draw the Baby!: Blindfold guests and hand them paper and a pen. Instruct each one to draw the profile of a pregnant woman. As the last guest finishes, instruct guests to remove their blindfolds. As each person laughs and compares their artwork, award the artist of the best and worst drawn pieces. Give the pictures to the mom-to-be to place in her scrapbook. Baby Scramble: Make a list of words that relate to baby, but scramble them up. Whoever gets the most words correct in the shortest amount of time wins! Toilet Paper Game: Have each guest guess how many squares of toilet paper it will take to fit around the pregnant mommy-to-be. Next you will actually wrap the toilet paper roll around her belly and count the number of square it takes. Make sure and take plenty of pictures while doing this, this will be a great memory to scrapbook (including one of the squares used). Whoever's guess is the closest wins! Dirty Diaper Game: Grab a package of diapers and fill a dozen of them with unwrapped candy bars. Smash them in really well, and number the outside of the diaper (1-12). Each guest will pass around the "dirty diapers" and have to guess what kind of candy bar is inside. Make it fun, and get some with peanuts, some with peanut butter, etc. The person who guesses the most correctly wins the game (and a candy bar)! BABY FOOD JARS GAME: Purchase several jars of baby food. Using a Sharpie, number the tops. As you do this, make a list of the type of baby food and the corresponding number on a piece of paper. Remove the labels from the baby food jars. Guests will have to guess what is in each of the jars of baby food. The person who has the most correctly wins the game! Give the jars of baby food to the mom-to-be. Games submitted by: Joanna Taylor joannataylor.00author.com
Baby Shower Game: The Baby Was Conceived This is really not a game - It is just pure fun and the guests can get involved. Have one of the hostess write down everything the mother-to-be says when she opens a gift. After all the gifts are opened, read the comments out loud and explain that everything she said when she opened the gifts were the things she said the night her baby was conceived. To let the guests be involved and to take away some of the pressures of the hostess let the guests write down what the mother-to-be says when she opens the gift they brought. Baby Shower Game: T-Shirt Designers Not really a game but a fun activity for everyone. The hostess provides onesies or t-shirts for baby - different sizes so baby has some as he/she grows. Also, hostess provides cardboard for inside of t-shirts and fabric paints. Guests are asked to design a t-shirt for the new little one. Could be a favorite sports team, favorite pastime of Mom or Dad or a cute baby theme. The new Mom receives the t-shirts for baby after they dry. For more ideas for games Click Here.
Baby Shower Game: Statistics The host will need to provide a worksheet prior to the baby shower. Distribute worksheets to all the guests and collect them as they leave. Questions might include: baby's weight? baby's length? color of hair? date of birth? time of birth? sex of baby? (if not already known) people will say he/she looks most like who? Once the baby is born, the hostess should determine which guest had the greatest number of answers completed most accurately. That guest receives a gift. Baby Shower Game: Surprise Baby Diaper You need as many diapers as there are guests. Take only one diaper and create a "poop mess" inside (using chocolate). Either tape diapers underneath chairs or place diapers in some sort of basket and pass out to guests, having them choose their diaper. Have guests open the diapers at the same time. The one with the "surprise" diaper wins!!! Baby Shower Game: Taste It! You will need to buy different flavors of baby food. Put a little of each on a plate with a number written beside it. Each guest gets a sheet of paper with their guess as to what each number is....tough ones like sweet potatoes or blueberries are always hard...it's always alot of fun to watch peoples faces when they taste peas or squash. Baby Shower Game: Tag a Name If the mother does not have a name already picked out simply put an admired name for both a boy and girl or one or the other on the gift tag of the present bought for baby. This game has helped some of my friends pick beautiful names that they never dreamed of. It is so easy to get confused with so many names out there to choose from. Baby Shower Game: Tray of baby items-with a twist Purchase several baby items (diaper, bottle, pacifier, comb etc) before shower and arrange them all on a tray. Have the mom-to-be pass the tray around then find a reason to excuse herself. Once she is gone the hostess tells the guests to write down as many things as the Mom-to-be was wearing (color outfit, hair accessories, earrings etc). This will shock your guests because they are expecting to write down the items. They were probably not looking at the mom so it will be tough, but fun. Baby Shower Game: The Bag Game You'll need large paper bags (you can get them free at the grocery store) Give all your guest a bag and have them to place the bag over their head. Then ask the participants to take off something they really don't need. It may sound boring but it is so funny when you see women taking off rings, shoes and even clothing not thinking it's the bag on their head that they really don't need. And of course whomever takes off the bag first is the winner! And the participants who still have the bag on, you continue to ask them to take off something they really don't need, if the participants still don't get the hint just tell them without laughing too loud to take that silly bag off their head(s). Baby Shower Game: TV family show children Make a list of TV sitcoms with family themes. Wonder Years, Bewitched, Walton's, Family Ties, the Nanny, Brady Bunch, are just a few. Beside the name of the show, I listed the number of children's names needed. At the bottom of the page I wrote all the names of the children characters to choose from. I had the guests play in teams of two or three. Baby Shower Game: Who's Baby is Who? When I sent out the invitations, I enclosed a self address stamped envelope asking guests to send a baby picture of themselves. Informing them pictures will be returned. When I received all the pictures I color copied them. I cut the pictures into circles and glued them to silhouettes of pregnant ladies (die cuts from scrapbook store). I glued them to a poster board and the guests had to figure out everyone's baby picture. This is also good for name tags. Baby Shower Game: Yum Yum Diaper Race Before party starts, place one small scoop of Rocky Road ice cream in diaper and close diaper neatly. (One per guess.) When it is time to play this game, have all the guests who are playing, sit around a table facing each other. When guests are ready, come out with tray filled with cute little diapers. Tell guests that they cannot touch diapers until host signals. Place cute diaper in front of each guest. When each guest has the diaper ask every one at the same time to open their diaper. Then they all immediately must place their hands behind their backs and on the count of 3, whoever eats all the ice cream first, must stand up and raise their hand. That is the winner! Bon Appetite! Baby Shower Game: Surprise Prize In this game, the gift is a personal gift for the mother to be. As a surprise, don't tell anyone who the gift is actually for (especially the mother-to-be), but let everyone think that anyone can unwrap the gift and win. Also, make sure that the mother-to-be is sitting the closest to the front door (see #2). To see who starts the game, have a pen or pencil and a piece of paper for everyone. Tell everyone to put their pen or pencil in the opposite hand that they write with and when you say go they are to write their first and last name. The first one done gets to unwrap the outside layer of the gift only (see #6 below). (This game can also be played at a bridal shower, instead of baby shower). Wrap the gift and attach this verse on top of the gift: "We can not defer any longer the rightful one must know for her this gift was intended the mother to be (name), to her it must go." Wrap again and attach this verse: "Another wrapping must come off, there can not be many more. Give it now to her that sits closest to the front door." Wrap again and attach this verse: "The one who has the longest shoe on this gay occasion should have the gift passed on to her by way of consolation." Wrap again and attach this verse: "Since this is not for you or her with the bluest eyes, perhaps the one with the broadest grin should carry off the prize." Wrap again and attach this verse: "We are sorry to disappoint and must apologize, please give this gift without delay to her with the bluest eyes." Wrap again - there is no verse for this one. Baby Shower Games: Top Baby Shower Game: Switch or Keep Deal out a deck of cards to the guests. Each guest receives three cards. You might have to deal two decks. Keep two decks of cards for yourself. Yell out the cards. Those with corresponding cards then hand them to the hostess and grab a gift. There should at least be five gifts (non expensive, be creative). This gift can be kept by the recipient or taken by another person playing. The next card is called and the game continues with the gifts being passes around until the last card is called. The gifts are then opened by those who still have one. ENJOY!!!
